Sam, the son of Shimon and Bassya Klionsky, was born in 1902 in Binghamton, NY. Shimon, the son of Zalmon Mordechai, was born in 1867 in Borisov, Russia and emigrated to the US in 1892.

Bassya emigrated around the same time, also from the Minsk area. Shimon and Bassya had four children in New York City, before moving upstate to Binghamton in 1902.

Tragically, Shimon was killed in an accident only a few weeks before Sam’s birth.

Sam married Gertrude Rudstein from Newark, NJ in 1928. They lived in Binghamton and raised four daughters. Sam worked with the family business, Binghamton Furniture Company, and eventually opened his own appliances store, Sam Klion Appliances, in downtown Binghamton.

In the late 1960s, Sam and Gert retired to Florida.

In 1992, Sam and his extensive family celebrated his 90th birthday in Florida, at an event attended by many relatives from all over the country.

When Sam passed away in 1994, at the age of 92, he left behind his wife, Gert, his four daughters, 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
