Jul 5, 2006 San Francisco David Plotz, his aunt Emily Klion, sisters Renee and Lesley Klionsky and Daniel Klionsky met at Daniel's home in San Francisco.

David's visit to Bay Area was a great occasion for this get-together.

David Plotz , a recent graduate of Columbia University, NY, is on his around the country car tour. David's family lives near Washington, DC.

In fact, David's mom, Cathy Klion, is one of the biggest contributers of this site.

David is a decendant of Barnet [Berl] Klionsky (1874-1960) of NYC who was the brother of Shimon & Mendel Klionsky.

David's area of interest is Russia and Russian culture. He visited Russia on several occasions.

Emily Klion , David's aunt, lives in Berkley. She is a director of the marsh youth theater . She is a decendent of Barnet [Berl] Klionsky (1874-1960) who was the brother of Shimon & Mendel Klionsky.

Lesley and Renee Klionsky are the grandchildren of Morris Klionsky(?-1933). As it was recently discovered (see Unsolved Puzzles #14 and # 15 ), they are related to Louis Klionsky of Las Vegas.

Louis Klionsky's father Jack "Jacob" Klionsky and Morris Klionsky (father of Alex Klionsky (1923-1957), grandfather of Lesley and Renee) were brothers.

Lesley is an attorney working for a corporation as its real estate manager and Renee owns and operates a parking company in San Francisco.

Daniel Klionsky , the party host, is the son of Mark Klionsky of St Petersburg, Russia and grandson of Don Klionsky of Baku, Azerbaijan. Daniel works as a computer programmer. He is also the web master of this site.

The cousins drank tea with poppy-seed strudel from local Russian bakery, a berry pie from Berkley bakery and fresh made cookies from Italian bakery of the North Beach area of San Francisco.
The family connections and history were discussed as well as David's trips to Russia

Everybody had a great time.

Interesting facts:

Morris Klionsky (?-1933) , of NYC, the grandfather of Lesley and Renee was in fur trade. His son Alex (1923-1957), the father of Lesley and Renee was clothing designer. He was also a WWII veteran.

The relationship of Lesley and Renee Klionsky to Klionsky, other than Louis Klionsky of Las Vegas is yet to be determined.

As mentioned above, Louis Klionsky's father Jack "Jacob" Klionsky and Morris Klionsky (father of Alex Klionsky (1923-1957), grandfather of Lesley and Renee) were brothers.
